·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ is expanding its Opportunity Scholarship program with the addition of a new scholarship for qualified students from Piscataquis County in Maine.

·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ President Lynne Coy-Ogan announced the new scholarship that will allow qualified Piscataquis County students to attend ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ tuition-free thanks to the generosity of the late Harry Greenfield ’66.

The Harry Greenfield Opportunity Scholarship will provide students who have earned a 3.0 GPA in high school, have a family AGI of $80,000 or less, are federal Pell Grant eligible and who live in Piscataquis County a tuition-free opportunity to attend ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ via a combination of federal, state and institutional aid. First-year undergraduate students who are awarded the scholarship must attend school full-time in a four-year degree granting program on the Bangor campus. It’s the second Opportunity Scholarship for ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ, joining the Cyr Opportunity Scholarship for Penobscot County students that was launched in 2024.

"·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ alumnus Harry Greenfield was so appreciative of the opportunities that ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ opened for him, so it seems fitting to honor his legacy in this way. We are grateful for the ability to expand our Opportunity Scholarship program to a second Maine county," said Coy-Ogan.

Greenfield, was a longtime supporter of the University, who earned his BS in Business Administration. He went on to play four seasons with the Boston Red Sox and later owned SETCOM Mailing Systems, a printing and mailing services company.
