With an ever-growing global economy and consistent demand for tax and finance experts, the demand for accountants is strong. As a student in ·¬ÇÑÊÓÆµ’s School of Accounting, you’ll gain the skills, knowledge and experience needed to succeed on the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) exam and work in the public or private sector.
Program Overview
·¬ÇÑÊÓÆµ’s School of Accounting offers multiple programs through which you can earn your degree. Options available through ·¬ÇÑÊÓÆµ’s campus in Bangor, Maine, include the undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Accounting program and the five-year Bachelor of Science in Accounting/Master of Business Administration program. ·¬ÇÑÊÓÆµ also offers an online version of the B.S. in Accounting program and a Certificate of Accounting program.
Bachelor of Science in Accounting
The Bachelor of Science in Accounting program provides you with a strong foundation in accounting principles and concepts while also preparing you to take the CPA exam. You’ll begin taking accounting classes alongside fundamental business courses in your first year of study.
Upon graduating with your B.S. in Accounting, you’ll have learned about a wide variety of business and accounting topics such as macroeconomics, international business, principles of accounting, forensic and investigative accounting, federal taxation, financial management and more. You’ll have also gained valuable hands-on experience through paid internships.
Bachelor of Science in Accounting/Master of Business Administration (5-year program)
The Bachelor of Science in Accounting/Master of Business Administration program allows you to earn both degrees in just five years instead of the six years it would take to pursue both degrees separately. By earning both your B.S. in Accounting and MBA degrees, you’ll be well-prepared to sit for the CPA exam and take on management and leadership roles in the field of accounting.
The Curriculum
The Bachelor of Science in Accounting curriculum includes a variety of general education and business classes, as well as both fundamental and advanced accounting courses. If you are enrolled in the five-year B.S. in Accounting/MBA program, you’ll also take graduate business classes such as managerial economics, management communications, global strategic management and more.
